Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility Initiatives
ASBMR is committed to placing a deliberate focus on issues of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA). Below is a list of activities and initiatives both complete and in process.
- Increasing diversity of presenters for educational programming, Annual Meeting speakers and moderators, member volunteers and award recipients
- Hold regular virtual “Member Spotlight series” to provide a platform for under-represented minority members to present their research
- Incorporated DEIA goals into our Strategic Work Plans
- Adopted Diversity and Inclusion Statement of Principles
- Approved a Member Code of Conduct
- Implemented Under Represented Minority (URM) Mentorship Award Program
- Administered Underrepresented Scientist Proposal Support Program
- Conduct annual “Pulse Check” Webinar to capture member feedback on how they believe the Society is doing to address DEIA priorities
- Hold member listening sessions on timely DEIA topics
- Created Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility Committee to ensure that ASBMR embodies all facets of diversity so that all members, irrespective of race, ethnicity, nationality, cultural background, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, age, income, physical and mental ability thrive in the bone and mineral research field
