Reviewer Training Track
Calling all members! ASBMR is calling for applicants for our second cohort of the Reviewer Training Track, an initiative from the ASBMR journals to train the next generation of expert reviewers.
Why join our Reviewer Training Track?
Become a Valued Expert Reviewer: The ASBMR journals are always looking for valuable expert reviewers who have the skills needed to evaluate and improve submissions and drive the field forward. Upon successfully completing the Reviewer Training Track, you will attain membership on an affiliate Editorial Board serving both journals.
Expand Your Expertise: Broaden your understanding of research methodologies, ethical considerations, and data presentation standards in the field. Gain valuable insights that will enhance your ability to critically evaluate research articles as well as write your own.
Mentorship and Networking: Benefit from the expertise of seasoned top reviewers and current Editorial Board members who will guide you throughout the training process. Our experienced reviewers and Editors will provide constructive feedback and support as you develop your reviewing skills. Gain the opportunity to develop a new relationship with a more senior ASBMR member in your area of research.
Certificate of Completion: Receive a certificate upon successfully completing the Reviewer Training Track, recognizing your commitment to these professional development skills and credit for your invaluable work as a future peer reviewer.
Program Details:
Duration: The training track is a 12-month program combining one-on-one mentorship with an Editorial Board member or experienced reviewer (virtually as needed), reviewer development webinars, and opportunities to meet with the Editors.
Availability: The Journal Reviewer Training Track requires a commitment of time and effort. We anticipate that members of the training track should be available to review up to four (4) JBMR®/JBMR® Plus papers in the first year, spending approximately 8-10 hours per paper. Reviews will need to be completed within ~ 10 days of agreement to review. Participants should also anticipate mentoring sessions for each paper with an Editorial Board member or experienced reviewer. In addition, we expect all the RTT members to complete a concurrent educational program of at least 3 hours over the year.
Eligibility: The training track is open to all ASBMR members who have completed at least 2 years of Master's, PhD, MD, or another terminal degree/equivalent education, and who have a keen interest in scholarly publishing and a desire to contribute as a reviewer. No previous peer review experience is required and individuals at all career levels are encouraged to apply for the training.
