ASBMR and the Bone Health and Osteoporosis Foundation (BHOF) are partnering to realize US Medicare reimbursement for Fracture Liaison Service (FLS) in 2023! Medicare reimbursement for FLS will have an immediate and profound impact in the United States in identifying and treating patients that have experienced an osteoporotic fracture.

ASBMR and BHOF will host a two-day Virtual Hill Day event February 16-17. U.S.-based volunteers are needed to meet with their members of Congress and urge them to contact the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and ask them to make FLS coverage a priority!

This is a fun and easy way to make an impact!

Please visit the ASBMR website for more information and to register.

With improved diabetes care and increasing adoption of newer therapeutics and technologies, people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes are living longer. Older adults with type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes experience significantly increased risk for fractures than the general population, but the underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. With evolving understanding of bone fragility in people with diabetes, this JBMR® Plus special issue, guest edited by Martina Rauner, Ph.D., and Viral N. Shah, M.D., is designed to promote research and knowledge distribution in this important field. We are encouraging authors to submit their work in the field of diabetes and skeletal health on or before July 1 to be included in this special issue.

Please visit JBMR Plus site for more information and to submit today!

NIAMS has launched an updated online multimedia library showcasing nearly 200 high-quality scientific images, photos, and illustrations that are available to download free of charge.

The multimedia library contains images about conditions related to bones, joints, muscles, skin, and systemic rheumatic or autoinflammatory conditions, and photos of researchers working in the NIAMS intramural labs. The images are meant for use by the scientific and health care professional community, the media, educators, and organizations that produce health and science information. We invite you to explore the NIAMS Multimedia Library often, as it will continue to expand as new resources become available.

Visit the multimedia library to access and share the digital assets from NIAMS.
