Dear Colleagues – Registration for the ASBMR 2021 Annual Meeting is now open! We can’t wait to welcome you to sunny San Diego, CA, USA, October 1-4, 2021 or virtually in real-time. Take advantage of our early bird rates – registration prices for both in-person and the synchronous virtual meeting will rise on September 10. If you still aren’t sure whether you’ll be attending in-person or virtually, early bird registrants will be able to switch their registration type at any time. In-person attendees will receive in their registration confirmation email the direct link to book your housing at the official ASBMR hotel at the discounted rate. Our goal is to host a safe in-person Annual Meeting that brings together the world’s pre-eminent clinicians and scientists in our field. The safety of meeting attendees is ASBMR’s top priority. We believe the most effective way to ensure the safety of all attendees is for them to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Thus, proof of full vaccination will be required for all in-person meeting attendees prior to traveling to San Diego. ASBMR will be contracting with a third-party vendor to manage the verification process. More detailed information about the verification process will be announced in the coming weeks. In addition , all attendees will be required to wear masks for all indoor Annual Meeting events and activities. Social distancing will not be required, but session rooms and the exhibit hall will be set up to accommodate those attendees who prefer more personal space, as well as those who prefer to sit closer together. We also are planning to hold many of our Annual Meeting networking activities outdoors to take advantage of the temperate San Diego climate and reduce the time that attendees spend indoors. All those that are not able to be fully vaccinated or wear a mask indoors are encouraged to participate in the Annual Meeting virtually. This year’s full program will be synchronously available and recordings of most sessions will be available to attendees approximately 24 hours after the live broadcast. Please visit the ASBMR 2021 Annual Meeting Health and Safety webpage for complete information and read the latest updates to our onsite health and safety protocols. Finally, I want to congratulate the incoming Society Officers and Councilors that will be beginning their three year terms following the 2021 Annual Meeting: President-Elect is Mary Bouxsein, Ph.D., Harvard Medical School/Beth-Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Secretary-Treasurer-Elect is Rene St-Arnaud, Ph.D., McGill University/Shriners Hospitals for Children-Canada, and Councilors are Melissa Kacena, Ph.D., Indiana University School of Medicine, Nicola Napoli, M.D., Ph.D., Campus Bio-Medico University Hospital and Megan Weivoda, Ph.D., University of Michigan School of Dentistry. I also would like to thank all of the nominees willing to volunteer their time and efforts to advance the Society and our field. Sincerely, Suzanne Jan de Beur, M.D. ASBMR President
