Message from ASBMR President Laura Calvi, MD – June 27, 2024

    Dear Colleagues,

As we prepare for the ASBMR 2024 Annual Meeting, it is essential to enhance the programmatic offerings and to stay current with technological advancements. We have made significant efforts in both areas to ensure an improved and enriching experience for all attendees.

On the programmatic front, the ASBMR 2024 Annual Meeting Program Committee, led by Dr. Roberta Faccio, has worked for over a year to bring to our attendees the most exciting developments in basic, translational and clinical science, technology and practice through the invited speakers program. We thank the many abstract reviewers for providing their feedback on our members’ abstracts. In mid-June we met with the 2025 Annual Meeting Program Committee, led by Dr. Lilian Plotkin, to organize our members’ exciting new research in the abstract-driven program. We look forward to incorporating in the program the late breaking abstracts in the next month! As a programmatic innovation, our committee has transformed the traditional Highlights Session into short Highlight Videos provided by ASBMR experts in basic, translational and clinical research. These videos will be available in the meeting app before, during and after the meeting. Additionally, we will introduce ASBMR News segments during the morning sessions. These 15-minute segments will recap scientific content from the previous day and provide a preview of upcoming sessions.

We are committed to increasing accessibility at this year's meeting by leveraging technologic advancement and providing resources for attendees. For example, closed captioning subtitles will be introduced in most session rooms to increase accessibility to content for all attendees. In addition, we will offer ample seating areas with room for wheelchairs, lower tables for dining, ADA seating in session rooms, dietary accommodations, a mother’s room, a prayer room, handicap-accessible bathrooms, and access for service animals.

We look forward to welcoming you to an enhanced and inclusive ASBMR 2024 Annual Meeting!

    Sincerely,

    Laura Calvi, MD
    ASBMR President
